On-site soil cleaner

On-site soil cleaner

A Japanese company has developed a new soil-cleaning technology that can remediate soil polluted by heavy metals. The invention allows the heavy metals to be reused.

The technology uses “precipitate flotation” to separate the soil and metals. Teijin says this process causes heavy metals and iron to precipitate out, leaving the clean soil to be put back into the ground. Chlorinated hydrocarbons and other organic compounds can reportedly also be extracted.

The device is compact enough to treat the polluted soil on-site, alleviating the risk of secondary pollution during transportation
