A see-through guard to prevent contact or product ejection from a routing machines
Problem
A company identified two potential hazards with a routing machine, lacerations and amputations resulting from contact with the cutter and injuries as the result of work being forcibly ejected (kicked-back) during the work process.
Guarding was difficult as it is necessary to view the work during the work process to maintain accuracy.
Solution
A fixed guard made of see-through polycarbonate material was attached to the machine. Vision of the workpiece is maintained and the solid nature of the guard could control ‘kick-back’.
